THCA: Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid
Before they are decarboxylated, most cannabinoids start off in acidic forms. THCA is the carboxylic acid that transforms into THC when heat is applied.
Although they do not share the same intoxicating effects, THCA or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is the acidic form of THC and its precursor compound. This means that when THCA is heated it undergoes a process of decarboxylation and evolves into the cannabis plant’s most famous psychoactive component: THC.
